GTBank Chairman - Oluwole Oduyemi Mr. Oluwole Oduyemi (Chairman, Board of Directors)

Mr. Oluwole Oduyemi is a retired Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria. He holds a B.Sc degree in Accounting and a Masters degree in International Banking and Finance from the Heriot Watt University, Edinburgh, UK. He became a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (UK/Nigeria) in 1989.
He started his banking career with a brief stint with Barclays Bank BDO (Union Bank of Nigeria plc), after which he joined the Central Bank of Nigeria (“CBN”) in 1964 and rose through the ranks to become the Deputy Director of Banking Supervision Department in 1984. 
He became Director of Banking Operations in 1987. During his tenure as Director of Banking Operations, he implemented several projects, including the introduction of a market-based system for determination of the Treasury bill rate, the introduction of OMO technique for liquidity management and the establishment of the Nigerian Inter-Bank Settlement Systems (NIBSS).
Mr. Oduyemi became the Deputy Governor (Domestic Operations) in 1990, and Deputy Governor in charge of General Administration in 1999, a position he occupied till his retirement from the Central Bank of Nigeria in 2004.  Whilst he was the Deputy Governor, he served on several key policy making committees including the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) and the Financial Sector Surveillance Committee (FSSC) 1990. He developed the curriculum for the CBN School for Bank Examiners. 
He has attended several courses in many institutions including the IMD in Lausanne Switzerland, London Business School, Cranfield Business School, FIDC (USA), and the Federal Reserve Bank, Washington DC.
He was given the award of Distinguished Alumnus by the University of Lagos in 1997.
Prior to his appointment as a member of the Board of Guaranty Trust Bank plc, he served on the Boards of the Nigerian Security Minting and Printing Company (NSPMC) and the Nigeria Provident Fund (now Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund – NSITF)
Mr. Oduyemi joined the Board of the Bank in June 2005.

 



GTBank MD - Tayo AderinokunMr. Tayo Aderinokun (Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer)

Tayo co-founded Guaranty Trust Bank plc with Fola Adeola in 1990, and was the Deputy Managing Director for 12 years before becoming Managing Director of the Bank in August 2002.  He is directly involved in the general management of the bank’s operations with special emphasis and responsibility for asset management and liability generation. He is also the divisional head of the bank’s corporate services division, which covers financial control and strategy, human resources, systems and control and risk management groups.

Tayo holds a first degree in Business Administration from the University of Lagos and an MBA with special concentration on International Business from the Graduate School of Management, University of California, Los Angeles. His professional education includes Credit and Relationship Management training at the Chase Manhattan Bank Institute for International Banking New York, USA (1982-1983).

Tayo’s professional working experience has seen him working with several financial institutions. He began with the Central Bank of Nigeria in Calabar where he did his National Youth Service (1977-1978). He worked with Chase Merchant Bank Nigeria Ltd (later renamed Continental Merchant Bank) between 1981 and 1988. He was at Prime Merchant Bank Ltd for a short stint between 1988 and 1989 where he was Assistant General Manager and Head of the financial services division of the Bank. In 1989, he set up a non-bank financial institution; First Marina Trust Limited, which he ran for a year before starting Guaranty Trust Bank.

 


 

GTBank Deputy MD - Segun AgbajeMr. Segun Agbaje (Deputy Managing Director)

Segun is also actively involved in the general management of the bank’s day-to-day operations and is directly responsible for the Institutional Banking Division, which comprises Energy, Telecommunications, Treasury and Corporate Finance Groups. Segun has worked in almost all groups in the Bank.  These include Commercial Banking, Corporate Finance and Settlements Groups.

Segun holds a first degree in Accountancy from the University of San Francisco, California (1986), and a Masters degree in Business Administration from the same University (1988). Prior to joining Guaranty Trust Bank PLC, Segun worked for Ernst & Young, San Francisco, (1988 – 1990) as a staff Auditor. He was appointed an Executive Director in January 2000 and Deputy Managing Director in August 2002. Segun also serves on the Boards of Guaranty Trust Assurance Limited, Guaranty Trust Bank (Ghana) and Guaranty Trust Bank (Gambia).
