GTBank rallies support for kids with developmental disabilities PDF print email

Sponsors Special Olympics Nigeria World Cup ball Tour.

In a bid to draw support and raise awareness for Children living with developmental disabilities, Guaranty Trust Bank threw its weight behind the Special Olympics World Cup Ball Tour which was unveiled at a ceremony in Lagos over the weekend.

The event which was organized by Special Olympics Nigeria and supported by their corporate partners including GTBank, saw scintillating 5-a-Side football matches played between different teams drawn from the Special Olympics Nigeria Football Team, The Coca-Cola U-17 team and finalists in both male and female categories of the GTBank Lagos State Principals Cup.

Delivering an address during the unveiling of ‘The Ball’, General Manager and Head, Technology Group at GTBank, Dare Adeyeri commented that CSR embodies GTBank’s ardent commitment and social pact with all its stakeholders. He also commended the efforts of Special Olympics Nigeria for raising awareness and providing support structures for those with developmental disabilities whilst also praising the spirit behind the World Cup Ball Tour

The World Cup Ball initiative of the Special Olympics takes place every 4years and sees ‘The Ball’ - football's equivalent of the Olympic Torch, travel around the world to the World Cup host country from Battersea Park in London, where the very first game of modern football took place. This year, 20 countries have been visited and over 6000 people have signed on ‘The Ball’.
