Introducing CardSecure™ from Guaranty Trust Bank


GTBank CardSecure™ is a new service from Guaranty Trust Bank plc that protects your GTBank cards (MasterCard & Visa) from unauthorized use, whilst ensuring your online transactions and payments are protected & secure.


This service is brought to you in partnership with MasterCard® SecureCode™ and Visa Verified by Visa.


All you need to register for this service is your GTBank Hardware token and GTBank Internet Banking log-in details. To apply for GTBank Internet Banking service and Hardware Token, simply download the request forms here or visit the Guaranty Trust Bank branch nearest to you. You may also call GTConnect to obtain your Internet Banking log-in details.


The GTBank CardSecure™ code you assign to yourself will then be used to confirm or complete online purchases whilst shopping online at participating online merchants.

GTBank CardSecure is an innovative card security service by GTBank in association with MasterCard SecureCode and Verified by Visa.

This service offers you a secure internet shopping experience when you use GTBank cards to pay on websites of participating internet merchants that display the MasterCard SecureCode / Verified by Visa symbols.

You need the following to register:

  • GTBank Internet  Banking log-in details ( available via GTConnect)
  • GTBank  Hardware Token ( available at all Guaranty Trust Bank branches)

There is no limit to the number of cards you can register. You can register any or all of your GTBank MasterCard cards or GTBank Visa Cards in a single registration process.

During your first on-line purchase at a participating merchant site, a window will appear automatically, asking for your activation code which is the first step to registering for GTBank CardSecure.
          
To get your activation code, kindly log-in to the GTBank Internet Banking service and follow the on-screen instructions.

The 'personal greeting' is our way of allowing you personalize the use of GTBank CardSecure service.  Whilst registering for GTBank CardSecure, you will be required to a create a personal greeting.

Once your registration is complete, this personal message (which you created yourself) will be displayed while paying at a MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa participating website.

The personal information you are supplying is used as a security measure to make sure you are the real cardholder. The information you supply is verifiedagainst the data stored in a secure database.

When you want to pay for a purchase at a participating internet merchant with your GTBank MasterCard or Visa card, a window will appear asking for your password. After you have checked that your purchase information and personal greeting are correct, simply insert your password to conclude the purchase.

 

Once your card has been registered for GTBank Card Secure, any purchases you make at  MasterCard SecureCode or Verified by Visa participating merchants websites must be authorized with the password you created.
       
Unauthorized transactions can only be carried out with your card at participating merchant websites if you have shared your GTBank CardSecure password with someone else.

When you want to make an on-line payment, you first need to indicate your GTBank card number. When you have activated your card for GTBank CardSecure, your card number will be recognized automatically, after which a window will appear with your personal greeting, requesting for your password.  

 

The internet merchant checks your password electronically with MasterCard/Visa and GTBank during the purchase. If you then provide the correct password, GTBank will automatically send an authorization message to the internet merchant and your payment will be completed. This process is fully protected and invisible to the internet merchant.       

Click on 'forgotten password?' in the window that asks for your password. You will be directed to contact GTBank via the numbers provided on the webpage. To get a new password, you will have to reconfirm your identity by answering the security questions. Once your identity has been confirmed you will be allowed to create a new password.

You will need to re-register your card for GTBank CardSecure.
