The GTBank Naira MasterCard card is an international payment card issued in partnership with MasterCard Worldwide. It is denominated in Naira, but can also be used to settle purchases in other major currencies.


It is accepted worldwide as a means of payment for goods and services at over 30million MasterCard locations and over 1.9million ATMs in more than 210 countries. The GTBank Naira MasterCard card is linked online, real-time to your Current or Savings account; all transactions done using this card are reflected on the account instantly.


Features

  • Cardholder's name, number and expiry date are printed on the front of the card.
  • Validity is for 3 years.
  • The term 'Electronic Use Only' is printed on the bottom right hand corner on the front of the card.
  • The 3 digit Card Validation Value (CVV2) is printed on the reverse side of the card, beside the signature panel.

A new card will be sent to your branch approximately two weeks before your card expires. Please visit your branch to pick up your card and PIN.

Your GTBank Naira MasterCard can be declined for a number of reasons including:
  • Insufficient funds in your account
  • Wrong PIN being used (use of wrong PIN three consecutive times will block your card)
  • Exceeding daily ATM withdrawal limit.

You can monitor transactions on your card via the Internet Banking service and GTConnect (24hours Contact Centre) on 0800-482666328, +234-700-482666328, +234-1-4480000, +234-80-2900-2900, +234-80-3900-3900. Notifications of transactions will be sent to you via e-mail and/or SMS.

Your CVC2 is the 3 digit number printed on the right side of the back of your card, appearing beside the signature panel. This security number is different from the Personal Identification Number (PIN) and can only be used for Internet purchases.
Yes. You will be charged N1,000 per withdrawal from ATMs of banks outside Nigeria, but all payments done on POS in shops, hotels, restaurants, etc. are free.
You will be charged an issuing fee of N1,000 for your new card.

Yes. Simply activate your card by changing your PIN on any GTBank ATM. Your card must be activated before first use.

  • Check that the ATM displays the MasterCard logo
  • Insert the card into the slot on the ATM and enter your PIN
  • If prompted to select an account, select "Current/Checking"
  • Select the cash withdrawal option
  • Enter the amount you wish to withdraw

You can use your card at 30million MasterCard locations and 1.9million ATMs worldwide, wherever the "MasterCard" logo is displayed.

You can make cash withdrawals, check/print balances, check/print mini-statements and change your PIN at ATMs. You can also make purchases on POS terminals as well as make payments on the Internet.

Your GTBank Naira MasterCard utilizes Chip & PIN technology that provides enhanced security against unauthorized transactions. However, please do not:
  • Disclose your PIN to a third party
  • Leave your card unattended
  • Allow your card out of sight at the point of payment
For Internet payments, use your card only on credible websites, which can be identified by:
  • A locked padlock at the bottom right corner of your browser window
  • An unbroken key symbol at the bottom right corner of your browser window
  • A site with a URL that starts with "https".
