  • Conduct transactions on your bank account regularly.
  • Always take advantage of our products and services for your transactions. You don’t have to visit the banking hall as our alternative e-channels like Bank 737, Deposit ATMs, Mobile App and Internet Banking are easy to use, secure and available 24/7.
  • Keep your address and contact information updated on your bank accounts so as not to miss out on important notifications.

How to Reactivate Your Inactive Account

Please do any of the following to make your accounts active:

  • Funds transfer to/from the account (via mobile banking/internet banking or the simple and much loved 737)
  • Cash deposit/withdrawal
  • Cheque deposit/withdrawal

How to Reactivate Your Dormant Account

Individual Account Holders

  • A duly filled dormant account reactivation form
  • Recent utility bill issued within the last 3 months– original for sighting if address has changed
  • Valid means of identification (International passport, Driver’s license, Permanent Voter’s Card or National ID card)

Corporate Account Holders

Sole Proprietorship 

  • A duly filled dormant corporate account reactivation form or Reactivation letter signed by authorized account signatory.
  • Valid regulatory ID card of authorized signatory

Limited Liability Companies

  • A duly filled dormant corporate account reactivation form or Board resolution signed by two directors or a director and the company secretary (Company seal should be affixed on the letter)
  • Valid regulatory ID card of authorized signatories/directors/trustees

Non Resident Nigerians

  • A duly completed and signed dormant account reactivation/update form
  • Notarized utility bill or stamped bank statement issued within the last 3 months
  • Valid Nigerian international passport, Driver’s license, Permanent Voter’s Card or National ID card OR notarized foreign identity card (Driver’s License or International Passport) in addition to an expired Nigerian regulatory ID.
  • For students who reside in School accommodation in foreign countries: - a signed and stamped/sealed letter from school showing proof of residence in hostels with proof of scholarship or tuition fees. For students with accommodation outside the School, a valid notarized utility bill should be provided.
  • To notarize your document, please visit www.notarycam.com/gtbank or any notary public, or court, or post-office, or the Nigerian embassy to stamp a photocopy of the document as a certified true copy of the original.

An account is inactive when there has been no customer or depositor initiated transaction for a period of six months 

A dormant account is an account that has had no customer or depositor initiated transaction for a period of one year 

A duly filled dormant account reactivation form, an ID card is not necessary so long as you have not exceeded the single deposit limit of N50,000 and cumulative balance of N300,000 respectively

If the address filled on the reactivation/ update form differs from what is registered with the Bank, a utility bill will be required for original sighting within the last three months.

 No. Our Bank does not charge for reactivation of dormant accounts

The customer can use a notarised foreign Driver’s license and the expired Nigerian International passport for the reactivation of account.
