The Bank Verification Number (BVN) gives each Bank customer a unique identity across the Nigerian Banking industry that can be used for easy identification and verification at Point of Banking operations.
As an NRN account holder, you are required to enrol and update your records voluntarily with the bank by visiting any of the appointed OIS or VFS Centres.
If you have obtained your BVN from another Nigerian bank, you can link your BVN to your GTBank account online via our Internet Banking platform and Corporate website.

You will need the following documents to apply for an NRN account:
a. Duly completed NRN Account Opening Form
b. Your passport photo with full face forward
c. A copy of any of the following means of Identification:
d. Copy of any of the following as a proof of address:
e. References (either (i) or (ii) below) – For Current and/or Domiciliary accounts.
(i) A stamped reference letter or a stamped Banker’s confirmation obtained from your bank abroad.
(ii) Two completed reference forms from Current account holders (Nigerian) with any Nigerian Bank.
f. For Joint accounts, a copy of your marriage certificate is required.
PS: Documents that require notarization can be certified as a true copy of the original by a Notary Public or a Lawyer or by the Nigerian embassy or a Post Office or a GTBank Subsidiary staff

A stamped Banker’s confirmation stating the customer’s address serves as a proof of address and a reference at the same time. Therefore, customers who provide this will not need to provide a reference or utility bill.
No, the NRN service is offered only to individuals and not to businesses. The customer will however be referred to the SME team.
Yes, these customers can visit GTBank UK for the submission of their NRN account opening package. They can also have their documents sighted by a GTBank UK officer in our London office.

The username and password are system generated for confidentiality and sent to your registered e-mail address with the bank; please ensure your e-mail address is correctly filled out in your account opening form. You will also be prompted to set a secret question and answer. You may contact the Bank if you do not receive the notification sent you.
