Common reasons for Dollar card decline:

  • The card was not activated
  • Insufficient funds in your dollar account: Be sure to transfer funds from your domiciliary account onto your card account, if necessary.
  • Invalid PIN inputted 3 consecutive times in a day
  • Exceeding daily ATM withdrawal limit
  • The card is used on a magnetic striped terminal
  • Providing a wrong billing address different from address indicated on the card application form

Requirements

  • An active Dollar Domiciliary account.
  • Sufficiently funded account for the card charges (charges can be taken from a Naira or Dollar account)

Issuance fee: N1,075

Annual maintenance: $10 or the naira equivalent

Application Process

For customers with an existing Dollar Domiciliary Account;


Apply on internet banking.

  • Login to internet banking Go to 'Cards’
  • Click 'Dollar Cards Request'
  • Click on 'New Request'
  • Fill the form and click submit

Or

  • Visit any GTBank branch to apply.

For customers without an existing Dollar Domiciliary Account


1. Self-Service Option (For active current account holders)

a. Apply for an additional account [Domiciliary account] on internet banking.

b. Once opened, proceed to apply for your dollar card on internet banking.

2. Visit any GTBank Branch (if you do not have an current account)active


Please visit a branch with the following documents:

  • A completed additional Account Opening Form (Download here)
  • A completed dollar card application form (Download here)
  • Two References (Including Non-Current Account Holders) (Download Here)
  • A Valid Regulatory ID Card
  • Utility Bill with 3 months validity

It takes about 3-5 days to get your dollar card

Option 1:

Option 2:

Opt for in-branch pickup and activation through a trusted proxy.

  • Apply for a card via Ibank[See steps above]
  • Once card is ready for pickup, Send an email to gtbankmailsupport@gtbank.com and your account officer requesting for a third-party pickup.

Documents required include

  1. Completed indemnity form
  2. Information of the proxy

Activate the card by changing the card pin on a GTBank terminal using 0000 as the default pin, followed by a balance inquiry

  • For all Visa cards and all other credit cards:

  1. Pre-activate In-branch: Request card pre activation at pickup. [The branch attendant sends an email to GT connect for pre-activation. After pre activation, activate the card by changing the card pin on a GTBank terminal using 0000 as the default pin, followed by a balance inquiry
  2. Contact GTConnect for Pre activation: Dial 08029002900 or 08039003900. After pre activation, activate the card by changing the card pin on a GTBank terminal using 0000 as the default pin, followed by a balance inquiry

Yes. Privately sourced funds must be deposited in your domiciliary account to be transferred to your Dollar card.

  • Kindly login to your Internet Banking account and click on account transfers.
  • Select the own accounts transfer.
  • Complete transaction

  • Sign into internet banking with your username and password
  • Click Card --> PIN Retrieval
  • Select active card
  • Enter card expiry date
  • Provide an answer to your secret question
  • Enter your token code
  • Click Submit and your Card PIN pops up

Please note that the first transaction after this retrieval must be an ATM transaction.
